Empowering Belgian enterprises to establish secure, high-performance, and low-latency cloud connectivity locally and globally

Brussels, Belgium – 18 November 2025 BICS, a Proximus Global Company, and leading international communications enabler, today announced an extension of its collaboration with Microsoft, now a key connectivity partner for its new cloud region in Belgium. This collaboration will see BICS provide secure, high-performance connectivity to Microsoft’s new ABC (Azure Belgium Central) cloud access on-ramps, linking the rest of the world to Belgium.

Microsoft has recently expanded its global cloud infrastructure by establishing two on-ramps in the Brussels area to meet growing customer demand, improve latency, and address network capacity. BICS, with its robust global network and extensive IP backbone in Europe, will provide the critical connectivity for these new access points, ensuring seamless and reliable access to Microsoft’s Azure ExpressRoute environment for businesses.

This partnership builds on a long-standing global relationship between Proximus Global and Microsoft. BICS’ Cloud Connect service offers enterprises a direct and private connection to major cloud service providers, bypassing the public internet to ensure greater security and performance. The addition of local on-ramps in Belgium will allow businesses in the region to migrate to the cloud with lower latency and enhanced reliability.

“The launch of our new cloud region in Belgium marks a significant milestone in empowering local organisations with secure, high-performance, and low-latency access to Microsoft Azure. Reliable connectivity is essential for our customers’ digital transformation journeys, and we are pleased to partner with BICS, whose robust network and expertise ensure that Belgian enterprises can fully leverage the benefits of our cloud platform. Together, we are enabling businesses to innovate, scale, and thrive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape,” said Marijke Schroos, General Manager at Microsoft.

“We are proud to extend our collaboration with Microsoft to Belgium,” said Luc Vidal-Madjar, VP of Connect – Mobility & Network at BICS. “Our extensive European network infrastructure allows us to provide the fast, secure, and reliable connectivity that is essential for cloud services. This partnership reinforces our commitment to enabling digital transformation by bridging the gap between enterprises and the world’s leading cloud platforms.”

BICS’ fully automated service offering enables fast provisioning for connections to the cloud, allowing businesses to set up and manage their connectivity ecosystem efficiently. While BICS has previously facilitated access to Microsoft’s nearest on-ramps in cities like Amsterdam and Frankfurt for Belgian customers, this local presence marks a milestone for the country’s digital economy.
