BRUSSELS – 15 October, 2026 – BICS, a Proximus Global company, has won the ‘5G & Next-Generation Mobile Communications’ category at the 2026 Merit Awards for its 5G SA Service Hub.
Since 2022, the Merit Awards are an independent awards program that recognize companies contributing to the growth of global industries, with entries judged by a selected panel of journalists, executives, consultants, entrepreneurs, and educators from across industries.
Built on BICS’ years of experience keeping mobile users connected as they travel, BICS’ award-winning 5G SA Service Hub gives operators everything they need to launch and expand 5G Standalone (SA) roaming internationally, in one place. Secure network connections, partner activation, testing, service monitoring, and analytics all sit on a single platform. Operators no longer need to juggle separate projects to get there. They can also choose how they manage 5G security: keep it in-house or let BICS host and manage it for them. The result is a simpler, faster way to get new services in front of their customers.
Commenting on the win, Jaymy Teh, CPO Connect BICS, said: “5G Standalone roaming only works when operators, roaming partners and technology providers pull together, and our 5G SA Service Hub was built to make that easier. This award is a real tribute to our teams, who have worked hand in hand with customers to turn 5G SA from a promise into live services across Europe, the Middle East and Asia. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved so far, and we’re excited to help many more operators give their customers the full 5G experience, wherever they go.”
BICS set up the first live 5G SA roaming connection between Europe and the Middle East. It has since expanded into Asia and now has 30 direct 5G SA connections, and more than half of the world’s 5G SA operators already use BICS for their connectivity. Behind this is a fully owned network of more than 140 points of presence, carrying around 30% of global data signaling traffic and more than 50% of global data roaming traffic.
